Boy: Those are some leaves I drew.
Educator: Some leaves? So this is the watermelon vine? How did you know to do this red? Because the watermelon over there don't look red.
Boy: Yeah. I just forgot that. I just did the green first.
Educator: You did the green leaves first and then you did the red watermelon next?
Boy: No, I did the watermelon next, but I wasn't looking carefully. I accidentally put green instead of red.
Educator: Oh, OK. Well, I think that that's fine, because I know that watermelon are red inside anyway.
Visual description: By the garden in the outdoor area, an educator holding a drawing attached to a clipboard is crouched down next to a boy. They are both wearing hats. The boy is holding green and red pastel sticks, which he points to as he discusses the drawing. The educator motions to the paper, pointing to details as she talks to the boy.

Educator: How did you get the colours right across the page for this bit? Because that looks different from your vine. Did you use the pastels a bit differently?
Boy: Yes, I rubbed this over by doing it just on its side.
Educator: Ohh, that was such a clever idea, ‘cause it got lots of red colour onto there.
Boy: Yeah, because it didn’t quite have enough red to colour all of that.
Educator: And you worked out what to do. Fantastic. Are you pleased with that one?
Boy: Yeah, but we’ll need to wash our hands after.
Educator: We certainly will. I think we’ll need to put your name on this too so that we remember that this beautiful picture is yours.
Visual description: The boy bends over to pick up a snap lock bag of pastel sticks as the educator motions to details of the drawing. The educator then motions to the bag of pastels. The boy looks at the pastel sticks through the bag as he discusses the drawing. The camera moves overhead to reveal the drawing.
