Unicare Early Childhood Education receives Excellent rating

Date awarded 14/01/2015
Valid until 13/01/2018

Unicare Early Childhood Education’s innovative programs and leadership have helped the service earn an Excellent rating from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

ACECQA Board Chair, Rachel Hunter congratulated the Nedlands, Western Australia service on its achievement.

“Unicare Early Childhood Education is dedicated and committed to improving quality education and care outcomes for children,” Ms Hunter said.

“The programs and improved practices of educators at the service enhance children’s learning and growth and inspire quality education and care nationally.”

Unicare Early Childhood Education provides ongoing support to educators at a state, national and international level.

The dedicated management team and commitment to professional development enabled the development of the ‘model centres’ project: a professional development program that inspires childhood educators across Western Australia to visit the service and attend tours and training workshops.

Involvement in a number of research projects with the University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University has led to additional support for children and families at the service in podiatry, audiology and access to literature.

Learning is guided by children’s interests at the service. Children explore dedicated play-based learning rooms for maths, science, arts, construction, discovery and literacy, and discover the outdoor environment as part of the Attenborough program.

Unicare Early Childhood Education has strong links with its community, organising and providing professional development training courses, sharing its technical knowledge with other services and participating in research projects.

“The Excellent rating promotes and reinforces the value of quality education and care and recognises the efforts of the people working in our sector,” Ms Hunter said.

“Congratulations to Unicare Early Childhood Education on this outstanding achievement.”

Services that receive an overall rating of ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’ can apply for the Excellent rating.
