Gowrie Victoria Docklands recognised for excellence
ACECQA Board Chair Rachel Hunter congratulated the service, the eighth in Victoria to receive this recognition.
“Gowrie Victoria Docklands has developed partnerships with organisations in their local community that help children to learn in a number of innovative settings,” Ms Hunter said.
The service has established working groups which focus on delivering high quality projects. These groups provide opportunities for educators, children and families to collaborate when making decisions related to educational programs and practices.
Their ‘community connections excursion program’ supports educators to organise many excursions throughout Docklands and the CBD.
The service has developed partnerships within Melbourne’s extensive community resources, including the Melbourne Museum where children have helped staff to understand the importance of interactive activities as the museum develops a new children’s gallery. These partnerships enhance learning and growth for children at Gowrie Victoria Docklands and children who visit these organisations in the future.
Gowrie Victoria Docklands encourage educators to self-manage and reflect, creating the positive workplace culture, organisational values and leadership opportunities that enable the service’s excellent practice. Educators have showcased this by presenting at sector conferences and hosting professional development services at their centre.
“The Excellent rating promotes and reinforces the value of quality early education. Gowrie Victoria Docklands is most definitely a leader in this regard and I congratulate them on their achievement,” Ms Hunter said.
Services that receive an overall rating of ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’ can apply for the Excellent rating.
