Date awarded 01/05/2015
Valid until 30/04/2018

Baxter Kindergarten and Children’s Centre has been awarded the Excellent rating from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

ACECQA Board Chair Rachel Hunter commended the preschool on its extraordinary work to engage the local community and improve outcomes for children and their families.

“Baxter Kindergarten and Children’s Centre understands that to help children thrive it is important to support their families,” Ms Hunter said.

Offering low fee preschool, extended hours and a program that incorporates local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders’ knowledge, are just some of the practical initiatives that have encouraged more families in the local area to access early learning.

Baxter Kindergarten and Children’s Centre also offers support and models best practice to surrounding services, with over 100 services participating in their professional development sessions to date.

“Baxter Kindergarten and Children’s Centre takes an active leadership role within the community and wider childhood sector,” Ms Hunter said.

“I congratulate the educators for their continued efforts to raise the bar on quality education and care.”

The Excellent rating is the highest rating a service can receive under the National Quality Framework (NQF). Providers with a service that has received an overall rating of ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’ can apply to ACECQA to assess their eligibility for the Excellent rating.
