Excellent rating awarded to Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten

Date first awarded: 13/02/2014

Date awarded: 05/01/2017

Valid until: 04/01/2020

Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten has been awarded the Excellent rating by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

Michael Petrie, ACECQA’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, congratulated the service on receiving the highest rating achievable under the National Quality Framework for a second time.

“Following their original recognition in 2014, educators at Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten remain leaders in our sector,” Mr Petrie said.

Educators make use of the local natural environment through Condy Park Beach Kindy, where a partnership with Reef Check Australia encourages children to develop an understanding of the marine life in their local environment. A marine scientist often visits while children are at the beach and friendships have developed with local fishermen who help children gain knowledge about the fish and the boats they see. Children see how the beach environment changes and investigate what animals are present when they visit at different times of the year.

“Condy Park Beach Kindy connects children with their local community by developing a feeling of belonging and appreciation of the environment they live in,” Mr Petrie said.

Educators have developed a curriculum which reflects a philosophy of listening and responding to children, the service’s morning yarning circles allow children to draw their ideas and discuss the resources needed to achieve them. In addition, Condy Park has introduced concurrent sessions where children are empowered to move freely around the entire service and can choose experiences offered in the different rooms and spaces of the service.

Alongside developing its outstanding practice, Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten is a leader and advocate for children in its community. The service has been instrumental in the formation and has an ongoing commitment to the Early Childhood Services Group.

“The Early Childhood Services Group enables local services to share ideas and participate in professional development based on the needs of children in their community. This extends the impact of educators at Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten into the local community,” Mr Petrie said.

“I congratulate Condy Park Preschool and Kindergarten on this recognition and thank them for their ongoing commitment to high quality education and care.”
