Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
The OECD's mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The OECD also aims to help countries foster quality teaching in preschools and schools to ensure all students - regardless of circumstances - lay the grounds for a lifetime of learning.
The International Research in Early Childhood Education (IRECE) Journal
The IRECE Journal is run by the members of the Monash University Child and Community Development (CCD) research group. It is designed to provide new opportunities for the early childhood education research community internationally to expand its scope on a variety of theoretical, practical and policy issues.
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)
UNESCO advocates for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programs that attend to health, nutrition, security and learning and which provide for children's holistic development. UNESCO leads the international policy drive for an integrated ECCE system that encompasses both the wellbeing and holistic development of the child. Its mission is to support early childhood policy development with the aim to build a solid foundation for a child’s lifelong learning.
United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF)
UNICEF is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and strives to establish children's rights as enduring ethical principles and international standards of behaviour towards children. UNICEF focuses on the following areas of intervention for early childhood development: quality basic health, education and protection services; good care practices for children within the family and community; and early child development policies.
New Zealand
The Education Review Office reviews schools and early childhood education services, and publishes national reports on current education practice.
The Ministry of Education is the Government's lead advisor on the New Zealand education system, shaping direction for sector agencies and providers.
United Kingdom
The Effective Provision of Pre-School Education (EPPE)
The original EPPE study followed children to the age of seven. It explored the impact of preschool on children's cognitive and social/behavioural outcomes, as well as other important background factors including family and the home learning environment.

Child Care and Early Education: Research Connections
Research Connections provides public access to child care and early education research data. The collection includes scholarly research, policy briefs, government reports, data, and instruments from a wide range of disciplines and sources, including multiple federal agencies.
Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.
Early Head Start is a federally funded commmunity-based program for low income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers up to age 3.
National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER)
NIEER conducts and communicates research to support high quality, effective, early childhood education for all young children. The Institute offers independent research-based advice and technical assistance to policy makers, journalists, researchers, and educators.
The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE)
OPRE is a unit within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) in the US Department of Health and Human Services. OPRE is responsible for advising the Assistant Secretary for Children and Families on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of programs to improve the economic and social well-being of children and families.
